Coaching Skills

"The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already"

Coaching skills for managers

We all know that leaders and managers can use highly effective coaching skills to motivate, delegate, for problem solving, relationship issues, planning, reviewing and appraisals. However, many informal, adhoc, water cooler coaching opportunities are missed because of a lack of awareness, and because coaching skills are not ingrained into management thinking.

Developing coaching skills is about developing the person for continuous awareness and employment of the underlying principles of coaching during daily interactions – even a single sentence – can be pervasive, inspiring and impactful.

This workshop teaches coaching and mentoring skills to leaders and managers and includes:

  • An in depth understanding of the principles of coaching and mentoring;
  • The manager’s role as coach;
  • Identifying and practicing the underlying coaching skills and qualities;
  • Learning and using a performance coaching model/framework;
  • The opportunity to develop and practice coaching skills in a supportive environment and receive feedback on personal performance;
  • A clear plan of action to implement.
